Is Tiger Woods Done Playing Competitive Golf?

Is Tiger finished?

I hope not.

But, it’s getting harder to remain optimistic.

Here’s Tiger’s record since his rollover accident in February of 2021.

Tiger Woods Playing Summary Since the Accident

That’s 11 tournaments, 3 WDs, 4 Missed Cuts, and well out of the money in the rest of the tournaments.

Sure, he’s made 3 cuts (the Hero World Challenge) is a no cut event, but after making the cut he fades due to the physical exertion of playing 72 holes.

Watching Tiger Woods struggle to finish this year’s Masters was painful to watch.

After standing and walking for over 12 hours on Friday to complete Thursday’s round and then playing a marathon second round he was finished.

The pain and fatigue was written all over his face.

And then it was on to the PGA Championship a month later.

Tiger played fine the first day but on day 2 he stunk up the joint with two triple bogeys.

Ugh.

Then he was on to the US Open and the British Open with much fanfare.

He even threw in a zinger to Colin Montgomerie.

Hilarious, but….

Is it time for Tiger Woods to hang it up?

Unless he finds a magic elixir, it is.

I mean really, Tiger, what’s the point of playing anymore?

He can’t beat these guys.

He can play as good as them to be sure, but he doesn’t have the physical stamina to play 72 holes.

Period.

What he does in 2025 will give us a sign on what he’s thinking.

Or not thinking, I suppose.

Really, can anybody see Tiger walking 72 holes without pain again?

I can’t.

I’m a huge fan but in my heart of hearts, I think it’s over.

I think he knows it too but might be struggling with coming to the final stage of grief.

Acceptance.

What’s Next for Tiger Woods Then?

Great question.

Tiger is an amazing ambassador for the game of golf.

He’s loved the world over and his golf legacy is secure.

This is an opportunity for him to step into the next phase of his career.

  • Grow his golf course design and clothing brands
  • Develop and grow the golf league venture he’s started
  • Continue practicing for success on the Champions PGA Tour
  • Begin setting the record for most Honorary Masters Starter starts
  • Take on caddie and full time supporter roles for Charlie and Sam

The possibilities are endless.

One thing’s for certain.

Golf needs Tiger Woods.

And we’ll support and cheer him.

Whatever he chooses to do.
