Everyone wants to know how did Tiger crash?
That’s what all the head lines say.
Type in “How did Tig” into google and it will complete your sentence with “How did Tiger crash?”
I don’t care.
Just don’t.
I just don’t think that is the right question.
However, It’s a good question and it’s understandable that everyone wants to know how.
Did Tiger fall asleep? Don’t know, don’t care.
Was Tiger taking drugs again? We’ll never know. Don’t care either.
Was he texting and driving? I hope not because see the answer to the next question.
How fast was Tiger Woods driving?
According to reports, he was going 87 MPH.
That’s nuts.
Don’t get me wrong.
I’m a huge fan of Tiger’s.
HUGE!
But I still don’t think these are the right questions.
My questions.
Why is Tiger Woods Driving?
Period.
I mean seriously.
He’s a gazillionaire!
Hire someone to drive for you.
Pay me enough and I’ll do it.
Want me to be on call 24/7, 365 a year?
Sure.
Pay me enough, plus benefits and I’m in.
I’ll sign any type of confidentiality / non-disclosure agreement you want me to.
Tiger could take roughly $10,000,000 of his $500,000,000 and invest that in a dividend fund and use the proceeds from that to easily hire a full time, around-the-clock driver.
He could probably hire two.
Let that sink in.
Need a midnight snack?
Text the driver: “let’s roll in 5”
A ride to the airport?
No problem.
He’s got so much money he has no idea what to do with it.
Not only is he rich but he’s busy.
Very busy.
How busy is Tiger Woods?
Imagine how busy Tiger Woods must be every single day.
It must be crazy to be Tiger.
He’s an industry CEO in charge of Tiger Woods inc.
I’m sure the demands on his time are unbelievable and his schedule has got to be a nightmare.
First there’s his family.
He has to arrange time to be with his kids.
Anyone with kids will tell you this is not easy.
Then there’s golf.
Tiger doesn’t just play golf, he has to prepare to compete at the highest level.
And, then he has to play.
Add in the logistics of travel to and from tournaments and his schedule is starting to get pretty demanding.
He also has multiple sponsors who want his time for photo shoots, videos and meetings with endless bigwigs.
This is what he was doing in California at the time of his accident.
Throw in a few charities and running his own tournament, he’s just about out of time.
Additionally, he’s got major medical issues that require significant time and attention.
Tiger also has to manage his inner circle of his agent and caddy and be a friend to them and their families.
Whatever time he has left is spent dealing with friends and personal connections.
Tiger’s personal connections aren’t like yours and mine either.
They’re rich and famous.
He’s rich and famous.
Everything he does has to be calculated and planned.
Like us he also has friends on the periphery of his life.
His secondary circle of “friends” probably always want something from him.
Tickets.
Access.
Time.
Shoutouts.
Whatever.
Can you imagine what Tiger’s phone looks like during a normal day?
It’s got to be a little overwhelming to be Tiger.
So let me give you some unsolicited advice Tiger.
My advice for Tiger Woods
My advice for Tiger has nothing to do with golf.
Here goes.
Hey!
Tiger!
You don’t have time to drive!
You just don’t.
In fact, you don’t have time to do anything that is routine or mundane.
And, you have the money to have someone take care of the routine and mundane items.
I’ll bet you have a maid to clean your house and a lawn guy to take care of your yard.
For instance, Tiger, you’re the kind of rich where you have full time chefs and personal trainers.
Probably has a team of financial planners too.
Swing coach. Check.
Caddy. Check.
Agent. Check.
But no driver?
What the hell?
With your record and your money?
Bottomline, Tiger you should have walked out of that resort you were staying in in Rolling Hills, CA and hopped into your limo.
Your LIMO should have been taking you to the video shoot.
That’s my advice for Tiger.
Who knows what the Masters would have looked like this year.
Instead Tiger, the gazillionaire golfer and industry unto himself, decided to drive.
And now he’s lucky to be alive.
Hey!
Tiger!
This is your third driving incident.
You have enough money to never have to drive another mile again in your life.
In your life!
Indeed.
Get a driver.
Pay him or her very, very well.
Very well!
And then never drive again.
Think of the freedom.
You can text, talk on the phone, relax, play video games or watch TikTok videos.
You can even Zoom.
But 87 in a 45?
Nope, never going to happen again.
My other question
Maybe Tiger knows all this, but still doesn’t want a driver.
Why?
Why would a 45 year old man who’s got the world at his feet not want a driver?
Clearly he needs one.
Clearly he’s in a rush and had the need to get where he was going quickly.
Makes me wonder.
Is it that he likes to drive?
Or is it that he just doesn’t want anyone else around to know what he’s up to?
I’ll admit, that’s dark and a bit unfair to Tiger.
And, if I think about this too long this makes me sad about Tiger.
So I don’t.
Tiger Wood’s future
Who knows.
If Tiger can make a full recovery I think he still has enough game and magic to win at least one if not two more majors.
If anyone can win a major over 50 years old, Tiger can.
Anyone remember Tom Watson’s run for a Bristish a few years ago.
I truly hope Tiger makes a full recovery.
Finally, I wish him all the best and will continue to be his biggest fan.
But he should never drive again.
Ever.
